VALENTINES DAY …..
has different meanings for different people, at different times and in different places.
Hearts were everywhere yesterday,
chocolate hearts,
balloon hearts,
patchwork hearts and crocheted hearts –

but then there is a whole year ahead and I wonder what will be remembered?
The chocolates will have been eaten,
the balloons popped …..
but memories last ….
Something has remained a memory to me since I first saw it,
I wonder if anyone else remembers?
Did you read the book, or see the film ……
“Carve her name with Pride”
where Virginia McKenna plays 23 year old Violette
I saw the film in 1960 and have remembered the poem ever since ….
The love that I have is all that I have
and the love that I have is yours,
The love that I have of the life that I have
is yours and yours and yours,
A sleep I shall have, a rest I shall have
but death will be but a pause,
For the peace of my years in the long green grass
will be yours and yours and yours.

Tania, her daughter, wrote a book about her mother Violette Szabo called
“Young, Brave and Beautiful”
unfortunately it is sold out but you can read it on line at:

They died heroic deaths together,
and we now live in the peace that they paid the price for.
But the greatest and supreme love ever shown to mankind was on Calvary,
where peace with God was purchased by the blood of Jesus Christ
for all who are truly repentant and turn to Him.
Heart love that goes on into eternity.
